BURGHAUSEN - THE SCIENCE CITY

Burghausen has been officially named the "City of Science" since 2017: The Science & Study Center Raitenhaslach of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Campus Burghausen of the University of Rosenheim have both provided an international study and seminar center and a decentralized college for business administration and chemical engineering. But also in the near and further region around Burghausen there are numerous higher education institutions.

As an academic educational institution for the entire region of Southeastern Upper Bavaria ("Region 18"), the University of Rosenheim contributes to economic development through the training and further education of specialists and managers. Part of this self-image is the integration of new educational opportunities at various locations in the region, including in cooperation with the city of Burghausen.

The many municipal and regional educational facilities and the proximity to the university locations of Munich, Landshut, Rosenheim, Deggendorf, Passau, Regensburg and the institutes of higher education in Upper Austria and Salzburg offer a comprehensive range of courses at a high level and within a reachable distance.

Cooperation with institutes of higher education

There are a large number of successful cooperation relationships and a close exchange of information and experience in particular between the internationally operating chemical companies of Burghausen and the Munich universities as well as between SMEs in Burghausen and universities of applied science in Rosenheim and Deggendorf. Many Burghausen companies regularly make use of the opportunities offered by university careers fairs to present to the students their wide range of career and development opportunities in one of Germany’s economically most successful regions.

Burghausen – enormous development potential for young academic talent

With over 5,000 different products, the Bavarian chemical triangle and Burghausen as its most important centre have a large breadth of technology. As a modern chemicals cluster it goes without saying that in view of these factors the chemical triangle also offers enormous development potential for the expertise of young talent in research, development and production. Burghausen companies offer highly skilled career opportunities – be it in chemical production or with companies and businesses specialising in industrial services, trade and commerce. This attractiveness is rounded off with the ‘soft factors’ of the economic location of Burghausen – an outstanding quality of life and living, high acceptance of chemistry and the industry, very good schools and the high leisure value of the region, especially in terms of cultural and sporting interests.
