Campus Burghausen

Centrally located in the ChemDelta Bavaria, next door to international corporations in the chemical industry, the Burghausen campus, as a location of the Technical University of Rosenheim, offers optimal study conditions for the intensive combination of theory and practice.

Study where the chemistry is right

Focused on chemistry and process engineering, modularly designed and supplemented in an interdisciplinary manner, the practice-oriented courses enable career prospects far beyond the region. The range of courses includes the bachelor's courses in business administration, chemical engineering, process automation technology, environmental technology and International Bachelor of Engineering. As well as the master’s programs in applied research and development in engineering, circular economy (part-time) and hydrogen technology.

Multi-million-euro investment to expand Burghausen as a university location

Millions of euros, mainly stemming from Burghausen Town Council, Altötting district council and the Free State of Bavaria, are currently being invested in extending and expanding Burghausen as a university location:

By autumn 2019, a new campus building was built on the site at the Marktler Strasse – with an investment volume of around €8.5 million.

At the beginning of 2019, four new synthesis, analysis, materials and physics laboratories at the Burghausen vocational training centre (BBiW) were leased for Campus Burghausen. BBiW invested around €3 million for this.

New campus technical center from 2026: Investment of around 35.5 million euros
The plans for the construction of a new campus technical center on the site of the Salzach Center, in the immediate vicinity of the Burghausen campus, were presented to the public in January 2023: Approximately 2,500 m² of pure laboratory space are planned in the future technical center. An investment of around 35.5 million euros is expected for the campus technical center. The management of the construction project is the Wirtschaftsbeteiligungsgesellschaft (WiBG) GmbH, a 100 percent subsidiary of the city of Burghausen. The start of construction of the technical center is planned for the end of 2023, with completion expected in early 2026.

Extended future perspectives of the Burghausen campus
The construction of the campus technical center is an important contribution to research and development as well as to the perspective of the university location Burghausen. With the technical center, the range of courses on the Burghausen campus can be expanded with a master's degree in the field of hydrogen technology. Linked to this is another goal of those responsible for the campus at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences: Burghausen should become the top address for studying environmental technology and chemical engineering in Germany.
