In a central location in the Bavarian chemical triangle (ChemDelta Bavaria), next door to international chemical corporations, Campus Burghausen provides optimum study conditions for an intensive combination of theory and practice under the slogan “Study where the chemistry is right”.
Study where the chemistry is right
With a focus on chemistry and processes, a modular structure and an interdisciplinary approach, the chemical engineering, business administration and environmental technology courses enable job prospects far beyond the region. Since the 2019/2020 winter semester, study opportunities in the chemical sector are supplemented by the new chemtronics course. The new “Circular Economy” master’s course will start in the winter semester 2021/22.
In the medium term, the number of students on the Burghausen campus is expected to increase to around 700, and in the long term, up to 1,000 places are planned.
- Location of Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences since 2016
- Courses: chemical engineering, business administration, chemtronics, environmental technology, circular economy (M.Sc. CE, from the 2021/2022 winter semester)
- Around 350 students at present
- Up to 1,000 study places planned
Multi-million-euro investment to expand Burghausen as a university location
Millions of euros, mainly stemming from Burghausen Town Council, Altötting district council and the Free State of Bavaria, are currently being invested in extending and expanding Burghausen as a university location:
By autumn 2019, a new campus building was built on the site at the Marktler Strasse – with an investment volume of around €8.5 million.
At the beginning of 2019, four new synthesis, analysis, materials and physics laboratories at the Burghausen vocational training centre (BBiW) were leased for Campus Burghausen. BBiW invested around €3 million for this.
Investment of around €20 million is expected for construction of a new campus laboratory building next to the BBiW. After completion in 2022, the building is likely to provide around 3,000 square metres of usable space.
Further study opportunities in the Inn-Salzach region
Along with Campus Burghausen, the proximity to the university locations of Munich, Landshut, Rosenheim, Deggendorf, Passau, Regensburg and the institutes of higher education in Upper Austria and Salzburg offer students in the region a comprehensive range of courses at a high level and within a reachable distance.
