Burghausen – Economic Hub of Southeast Bavaria
Burghausen is Southeast Bavaria's most successful economic and innovation hub, ranks among the financially strongest municipalities in Bavaria, and exerts a strong pull beyond the state borders. Burghausen's gross domestic product is around €9 billion per year, and the town offers over 19,300 jobs and serves a catchment area of 230,000 people.
In this town of just over 20,000 inhabitants, the world's longest castle not only towers above a picturesque old town, but the world-famous "International Jazz Week" also takes place annually. Burghausen is also:
- an industrial location that has grown over more than 100 years in the Bavarian Chemical Triangle ("ChemDelta Bavaria"), one of the centers of chemical production in southern Germany and the third-largest German chemical cluster.
- Burghausen is home to... for example, the world's largest site of Wacker Chemie AG (approx. 8,100 employees) and the petrochemical company OMV Deutschland GmbH, as well as an efficient network of service and supplier companies. Together, Burghausen's businesses provide over 19,300 jobs.
